Statement of President of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance

Israel’s offensive & subsequent occupation of the Rafah Border Crossing constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and will only lead to more civilian deaths.

The international community must finally intervene in order to secure a permanent ceasefire, the unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid & the return of all hostages. The European Union must finally take a clear stance.

I stand in solidarity with the thousands of civilians in Rafah who are living in fear and despair.
