On 25 October, the people of Brazil face a crucial choice with broader significance for progressive forces around the world. The candidacy of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva represents a commitment to democracy, social justice and reducing inequalities, in opposition to the far right, authoritarianism and neoliberalism.

At a time when the far right is gaining ground internationally and societies are demanding decent living standards, social protection and equal rights, Lula’s struggle serves as a source of inspiration. It highlights the importance of a Left that defends the interests of the broad social majority, addresses people’s everyday concerns and fights for an inclusive society founded on solidarity and justice.
